Verified item-price comparison
Coupons, comparisons, rewards and alerts
Side by side
| Aspect | Muchita Shopping | PayPal Honey |
|---|---|---|
| The primary job | Verify the item price of the product you are viewing at other stores | Automated coupon testing, rewards, cross-store Deal Comparison and price watches |
| What it changes | Shows a product-detection prompt and its own comparison interface; does not modify retailer checkout | Applies discount codes in the checkout form |
| Where prices are compared | Other retailers offering the same model and variant, verified before an offer can win | Deal Comparison covers supported stores and products across the web; it does not cover every option. The listing also describes Amazon seller comparison. |
| Price tracking over time | No scheduled tracking; a saved product is refreshed only when you ask, and its history stays on your device | Droplist monitors saved items and notifies users of price drops; the listing also describes price-history tools |
| When research runs | Only after you click compare, refresh, or continue; no scheduled or automatic price checks | Deal Comparison is available through a product search on joinhoney.com or a Honey Tips comparison alert on a store page; coupons are tested at checkout. |
| Price basis | Verified normalized item price; shipping disclosed separately as free, a known amount, or unknown and may be added | Deal Comparison weighs seller prices, potential coupon savings and PayPal Rewards. Separately, its listed Amazon seller comparison includes shipping and Prime status. |
| How it is funded | Free; no affiliate links, no paid placement, retailer links and checkout are never modified | Merchant affiliate commissions; eligible rewards share part of those commissions |
| Data its Store listing declares | Personal communications; Web history; User activity; Website content (Muchita listing read September 13, 2026) | "Personally identifiable information", "Financial and payment information", "Location", "Web history", "User activity", "Website content" |
| Usage analytics | Optional pseudonymous usage analytics, off until you turn them on; no product, retailer, query or browsing history in analytics | The listing states that Google Analytics collects usage statistics and gives opt-out instructions |
| Account | No Muchita account | The listing refers to a PayPal Honey account for rewards; it does not specify account requirements for every feature |
| Languages on the listing | Chrome; the extension interface ships in 39 languages | 10 languages shown on September 13, 2026; individual names not captured in this review |
Honey’s comparison and funding descriptions use help pages read October 4, 2026. Other features and Store disclosures retain the September 13 listing observation. Feature availability does not establish coverage or savings for your purchase. Muchita’s column describes its own workflow; data categories are publisher disclosures. This is an invented example, not a test of Honey or Muchita. Fictional Example Audio H1 headphones use the invented identifier DEMO-H1-BLK-UK: black, new, one complete UK retail pack. This is not a manufacturer SKU or GTIN. Every shop, price, stock statement and buying condition below is fictional.
For this illustration only, assume the four fictional shops sell directly, have stock, deliver to the UK, and quote GBP item prices including VAT for an outright purchase without membership. The product and condition must still match.
| Fictional shop | Illustrative item price | Illustrative product / condition | Illustrative shipping |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shop A | £269 | DEMO-H1-BLK-UK - black, new, complete UK pack | Free |
| Shop B | £249 | DEMO-H1-BLK-UK - black, new, complete UK pack | Unknown - may be added |
| Shop C | £239 | DEMO-H1-SIL-UK - silver, new; wrong variant | Free |
| Shop D | £229 | DEMO-H1-BLK-UK - black, refurbished; wrong condition | Free |
Under Muchita’s item-price rule, the matching new black packs at B and A are ordered £249, then £269. The £20 difference is illustrative item-price arithmetic, not observed savings. Unknown shipping at B stays unknown and does not reverse that item-price order; it cannot support a delivered-total claim. C and D do not match the chosen variant or condition. This describes the rule, not an output captured from the extension.
Honey’s documentation describes cross-store comparisons and recommendations that consider seller prices, possible coupons and PayPal Rewards. Suppose A also lists an illustrative £10 coupon and £5 future reward. They have not been tested; a future reward is not cash off today’s item price. These assumptions cannot tell us Honey’s Top Pick. We have not run either tool, and support for these fictional UK shops is unknown.
For your actual purchase, confirm model, tax basis, availability, seller and eligibility, and record shipping separately. Enter your offers in the blank price-comparison worksheet.

Use the illustration above to separate the item payment, shipping and a possible later reward. Honey documents coupon savings and PayPal Rewards as inputs to its Top Pick; Muchita orders verified matching item prices. Check the actual reward terms before valuing it. This page has not measured speed, savings or interference between the extensions.
Where Muchita falls short
Sources · Last checked October 4, 2026
Coupon testing, rewards, Amazon seller comparison including shipping and Prime, Droplist, affiliate funding, disclosure categories and current language count. Publisher claims, not benchmark evidence.
Cross-store comparison, Top Pick inputs, access through search or Honey Tips, and incomplete store/product coverage. Publisher documentation, not a performance test.
Merchant commissions and the sharing of part of earnings as PayPal Rewards.
The publisher's own product site, linked from the Store listing.
The Muchita column: what a check does, when it runs, and what it discloses.
What is stored on your device and what optional analytics may send.
Claims marked Publisher are what PayPal Honey states about itself; claims marked Muchita describe the current public Muchita Shopping release. Where a publisher's own materials do not state something, this page records it as not stated rather than inferring it.
