Connect Muchita, ask about one exact product and open its private check in desktop Chrome. The extension checks retailer pages; you inspect the result and buy directly from the retailer. You need no Muchita account or API key.

Directory status, 5 October 2026: the hosted OpenAI plugin has been submitted and remains in review. Direct connections are available separately; submission does not mean Directory approval. The downloadable local Codex preview below is a different edition.

1. Add the Chrome extension

Install Muchita Shopping from the Chrome Web Store in the Chrome profile you will use for the check. Choose Add to Chrome and review Chrome's permissions. The extension reads retailer pages to check the product, variant, availability and item price.

If a connected check already asked you to install, keep that original tab open. It continues after installation in the same profile. An unopened request expires ten minutes after creation; ask for a fresh check if it has expired.

2. Connect ChatGPT

1. Open ChatGPT's Settings > Security and login and turn on Developer mode, if your account and workspace allow it.
2. Go to ChatGPT Plugins, choose the plus button and add a connection named Muchita Shopping. Use the public server URL below and choose No authentication if asked.
3. Create the connection and inspect its discovered tools. Start a new chat and select Muchita from the tools menu.

OpenAI's connection guide covers access and metadata refresh. If custom connections are unavailable, use the manual product handoff below.

Ask for a product, variant and shopping country, for example: Use Muchita to check new Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones in black in Germany. Show item prices and shipping separately. Open the private check from the Muchita card in desktop Chrome. ChatGPT cannot launch your browser remotely. The card reads progress and offers for that check, including after the assistant's reply ends. The result reader is part of the card; you do not need to supply a private check identifier in your message.

Use Codex with the hosted connection

With the Codex CLI installed, run this command in your terminal:

Start a fresh chat with the connection available, ask for the exact product and open the private link it provides in desktop Chrome. This generic endpoint supports text results. An interactive card depends on the client you use. No local Muchita server or Node.js installation is needed for this hosted route. See OpenAI's MCP setup guide.

Follow the check, then inspect the result

Keep the Muchita tab open while it checks stores. Timing depends on the stores; a blocked page or human check can delay the result or leave the comparison incomplete. Follow any human-check prompt in Chrome, or stop there. An empty or incomplete result does not establish the lowest market price.

Compare the same product and variant, condition, currency, tax basis and purchase terms. Check seller and delivery eligibility for your shopping country. Offers are ranked by verified item price. Shipping is shown separately as free, an extra amount or unknown/may be added; unknown shipping is not zero. The observation time belongs to that check, so inspect the retailer again before buying.

Fix the setup or request that needs attention

• No Muchita tools: enable the connection in a new chat. For a ChatGPT developer connection, open it in Plugins and use Refresh if its tools are missing or outdated. For Codex, inspect codex mcp list.
• No private check link: look in the Muchita card or tool result. If the card cannot load, use the manual product check or contact support; do not paste private check links or tokens into support messages.
• Chrome still asks to install: add the Store extension in the same profile as the original check tab. OpenAI-connected checks need Muchita 0.3.19 or later. Chrome controls Store updates.
• Request expired or Chrome stopped reporting: ask for a fresh check. The old link cannot restart it. Hosted request and result data expires one hour after request creation, including completed results; completion does not start a new hour.
• Stop using the connection: remove your private ChatGPT connection, or remove the hosted Codex configuration with codex mcp remove muchita-shopping.

Without a connection, or on a phone

Use the manual product check to keep the exact product for your computer. Fresh checks require desktop Chrome and the extension. A phone can preserve a product or view an existing result while it remains available. For a manual desktop check, choose Copy → AI, review the summary and paste it into your chat.

Your product and privacy

The hosted connection processes the chosen product name or public link, optional shopping country and check result through Muchita's Cloudflare service. It does not receive your conversation. Request and result data is deleted within one hour of creation; private links provide access to that request, so keep them private. Retailer pages open in your Chrome. With the manual route, you decide whether to paste the copied summary. Muchita never makes a purchase.
